Recertification Information

NBOPE Journeyman and Master Plumber certificates must be renewed every three (3) years. Certifications expire on the date printed on the identification card, and no grace period is provided.

Recertification may be completed online or by attending approved training seminars that provide Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Online recertification requires completion of a 40-question, open-book, multiple-choice exam. The exam is non-proctored. Applicants must achieve a minimum score of 75% (at least 30 correct answers) to pass.

Any certification that expires after January 1, 2019, must be recertified to the 2024 Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC).

• Option 1: Online Examination

  Complete eight (8) hours of continuing education through an NBOPE-approved training seminar. Most local trade associations and training facilities offer these courses. Please contact the organizations directly for scheduling and additional details.
